Biography

Sarah O'Shea, MD, MS, is an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine, specializing in neurology, particularly in the field of Movement Disorders. She focuses on caring for patients with Parkinson's disease, atypical parkinsonism, Huntington's disease, and other tremor disorders. Dr. O'Shea is skilled in Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) and botulinum toxin injections, addressing both spasticity and movement disorders. Her research revolves around investigating prodromal markers of Parkinson's disease, the effects of neurotoxic exposure on the development of neurodegenerative diseases, and the neuropsychological outcomes of DBS surgery. She earned her BA in Biological Sciences from Northwestern University, and her MD from the University of Illinois, followed by a residency in neurology at the University of Iowa, where she served as Chief Resident. Dr. O'Shea completed a three-year fellowship in Movement Disorders at Columbia University/New York-Presbyterian Hospital and obtained an MS in Epidemiology from Columbia University through the Neuroepidemiology Training Program. She is a member of the International Parkinson and Movement Disorder Society and the American Academy of Neurology, and is credentialed with the Parkinson Study Group.
