Biography

Sarah Pearce is a prominent scholar at the University of Southampton, focusing on the history and literature of Jews in the ancient world, particularly during the Hellenistic and Early Roman periods. She completed her undergraduate studies in Theology and Philosophy, followed by a DPhil at the University of Oxford in 1995, specializing in the interpretation of laws in Deuteronomy and ancient Judaism. Noteworthy projects include co-directing significant studies on the Dead Sea Scrolls and leading contributions to the understanding of Jewish literature in Ptolemaic and Roman Egypt. Pearce is an active member of the academic community, having held leadership positions within various scholarly associations, including the Society for Biblical Literature and the European Association for Jewish Studies.
