Biography

Sarah Peirce joined the faculty at the University of Toronto's St. George Campus in 2019 as an Assistant Professor in the Teaching Stream. Her teaching focuses on physical geography, with courses including Geomorphology, Introduction to Soil Science, Fluvial Geomorphology, and Canadian Arctic Environments. She has conducted extensive research as a Mitacs Elevate postdoctoral fellow, exploring geomorphic monitoring practices and natural channel design projects in Southern Ontario. Sarah obtained her Ph.D. from Western University and her M.Sc. from the University of Guelph, where she investigated sediment transport and morphological changes in river systems using physical models. Her published research includes assessments of river management practices and the challenges of applying photogrammetry to physical modeling of braided rivers. Sarah continues to develop educational resources for students that enhance understanding of urban geographies and environmental processes, emphasizing her commitment to both teaching and research.
