Biography

Sarah Bloom Raskin is the Colin W. Brown Distinguished Professor of the Practice of Law and a Senior Fellow at the Duke Center on Risk. She previously served as the Deputy Secretary of the U.S. Department of the Treasury, where she was pivotal in pursuing innovative solutions to enhance the shared prosperity and resilience of the nation’s financial infrastructure. Raskin has championed cybersecurity issues in the financial sector at both national and international levels, contributing to significant frameworks such as the G-7 Fundamental Elements of Cybersecurity for the Financial Sector. As a former governor of the Federal Reserve Board, she played a vital role in shaping monetary policy aimed at promoting financial stability. Her career spans various regulatory and legal capacities, including serving as a managing director at Promontory Financial Group and as general counsel at the WorldWide Retail Exchange. Raskin's academic endeavors at Duke include mentoring and advising students, leading collaborative research projects, and guest lecturing on topics related to financial markets and climate risk.
