Biography

Sarah Reed is a recognized expert in the legal aspects of venture capital. She has been the founding chairperson of an industry-wide initiative endorsed by the National Venture Capital Association to create model legal documents for venture financing. Sarah received the Outstanding Contribution to the Venture Industry Award from the NVCA for her work in the field. With decades of experience in venture capital, Sarah has held various high-profile legal roles, including General Counsel at Charles River Ventures, a leading early-stage tech venture capital firm, and Chief Operating Officer and General Counsel at MPM Capital, an early-stage life sciences venture capital firm. She was also General Counsel at RA Capital Management, a multi-stage investment firm specializing in life sciences. Additionally, Sarah has founded peer networking groups for general counsels of VC firms across the nation, linking GCs, COOs, and CFOs of life sciences venture firms. Previously, she was a partner at Lowenstein Sandler and served as General Counsel for Palomar Medical Technologies, Inc. Sarah also clerked for a female Justice at the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court. She holds a BA in East Asian Studies from Harvard College and a JD from Harvard Law School, class of 1991.
