The lab uses an integrative structural biology approach, combining multidisciplinary computational and experimental biophysical techniques to understand pathways involving biological membranes at the molecular level of detail. The lab is currently supported by the UKRI Future Leaders Fellowship and the Wellcome Discovery Award. Research focus areas include mitochondrial quality control pathways involved in aging and age-related disorders; targeting viral vectors and nanoparticles in membranes; lipid modulation of membrane proteins; large scale membrane remodelling; and rational design of lipid-like molecules for biotherapeutics. Research methods include molecular modelling and simulation, X-ray crystallography, cryo-electron microscopy, and electron cryo tomography.
