Dr. Sarah Singleton

Biography

Sarah is a project manager at the Smith School of Enterprise and the Environment, focusing on the State Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR) report, which provides a global assessment and development framework for CDR. She has extensive project and programme management experience in the environmental field, having worked with governments, the private sector, and financial institutions such as the European Commission. Her experience includes supporting PwC and the Asian Development Bank, as well as working with the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office on restructuring state-owned enterprises in China. Sarah has also collaborated with EUROCONTROL in Brussels and Maastricht to assess the role of air traffic management in the environmental sustainability of air travel. In the private sector, she worked with offshore oil and gas companies in Thailand, Brunei, and Aberdeen to integrate environmental considerations into operational practices. Her programme management experience includes working on the UK government’s Knowledge Transfer Programme, connecting businesses with academic expertise to foster innovation and support the Market Transformation Programme to promote sustainable energy efficiency. Recently, she has worked in educational business management to ensure that state-educated, free school meal-eligible pupils, including those with special educational needs and disabilities, have equal life opportunities.
