Biography

Sarah Tsiang enjoys teaching at the Master's and Undergraduate levels. She worked as a Professor at Sheridan College, where she helped establish the Creative Writing and Publishing Undergraduate program. Additionally, she taught MFA students at the University of British Columbia and currently supervises MA students in Creative Writing at the University of Toronto. She teaches creative writing courses at Queen's University, co-teaching the in-person experiential learning course 'Writing Community.' As the Creative Director of Poetry Voice/Les Voix de la Poésie, she contributes to a national non-profit dedicated to bringing poetry to Canadian students. In the past, Sarah has worked with several non-profits, including AIDS New Brunswick and FAS Network of New Brunswick. She has published 11 books, with more forthcoming in 2026. Sarah's teaching approach emphasizes the importance of educational experiences, both positive and negative, to guide students in their learning journey. She encourages students to find their own answers rather than being given solutions, aiming to produce independent thinkers who understand the complexities of analysis. Her research interests include various forms of creative writing such as poetry, children's literature, fiction, and non-fiction, alongside personal hobbies like weightlifting and martial arts.
