Biography

Sarah Werner Boada is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology at the University of Warwick. She joined the department as a Marie Skłodowska–Curie Postdoctoral Fellow (EUTOPIA-SIF COFUND) in 2022 and became an Assistant Professor in 2023. Prior to her current role, she served as a Visiting Lecturer in the Department of Gender Studies and was also a tutor/instructor at the Roma Graduate Preparation Program at Central European University in Vienna, Austria. Her professional background includes work in the fields of gender violence and children's rights, where she has collaborated with intergovernmental umbrella organizations. She is a member of the British Sociological Association, the International Association of Maternal Action Scholarship (IAMAS), and a French-speaking research network focused on gender violence, VisaGe. Her current research project, ACReDIS, investigates the decisions surrounding the removal of children from Romani Traveller families in England and Spain. In addition to her research, she teaches a variety of courses, including SO112 International Perspectives on Gender and SO929 Gender Analysis and Development Practice.
