Sarah Wiesendanger studied Photography at the Zurich University of the Arts (Bachelor) and subsequently pursued a Master's degree in Art History and Philosophy at the University of Basel. She completed her Master’s thesis in early 2020 focusing on the oeuvre of American artist Andrea Zittel. During her studies, she was involved in various art and exhibition projects. After graduation, she worked as an assistant curator at Kunstmuseum Basel | Gegenwart, including an exhibition of early works by Isa Genzken. Since mid-2021, she has been serving as an assistant in the Schaulager Professorship for Art Theory. Her current project examines the work of German artist Charlotte Posenenske (1930–1985), particularly the plastic works developed in 1967/68, which were designed for mass production and sold at cost price. The dissertation aims to critically assess the affirmative interpretations of Posenenske’s work by analyzing ephemera such as invitations and photographs, in addition to theoretical positions, to situate the works within a broader cultural and historical context.
