Biography

Sarahn M. Wheeler is an Associate Professor at Duke University Medical Center, specializing in maternal-fetal medicine. Raised in Mt. Laurel, NJ, she graduated magna cum laude from Harvard University before earning her M.D. from the University of Chicago’s Pritzker School of Medicine. She completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Johns Hopkins Hospital and subspecialty training in maternal-fetal medicine at Duke University in June 2016. Dr. Wheeler is the director of Duke's Prematurity Prevention Program, dedicated to helping women at risk for preterm birth. Her research addresses race disparities in preterm birth and focuses on developing interventions to improve the utilization of therapies that prevent preterm births. She is actively involved in ensuring inclusivity within the OB/GYN department at Duke as the Vice Chair of Culture, Engagement, and Impact. Dr. Wheeler has published numerous peer-reviewed articles and is committed to improving clinical practices for maternal health across communities.
