Dr. Saral Mehra

Biography

Saral Mehra, MD, MBA, FACS, is an Associate Professor in the Department of Surgery with a focus on Otolaryngology at Yale School of Medicine. He serves as the Chief Section Head of Head and Neck Surgery and is the Director of the Head and Neck Oncologic Reconstructive Surgery Fellowship. Dr. Mehra is renowned for his expertise in treating head and neck cancers, salivary diseases, and thyroid diseases, particularly through minimally invasive surgical techniques. He has authored over 100 peer-reviewed publications and numerous book chapters and regularly presents his research at national and international meetings. Dr. Mehra earned his MD from Columbia University's College of Physicians and Surgeons and an MBA from Columbia Business School. He completed his residency in Otolaryngology/Head Neck Surgery and further specialized through a fellowship at Mt. Sinai Beth Israel Medical Center. His clinical practice emphasizes compassionate patient care and effective communication, especially for patients navigating the challenges of cancer diagnosis and treatment. Additionally, he is actively involved in research aimed at improving the quality of life for patients undergoing treatment for head and neck cancers, leveraging his educational background in business to drive health services research and enhance care delivery.
