Dr. Sari Kouvo

Biography

Sari Kouvo is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Gothenburg, specializing in international law, particularly human rights and humanitarian law. Her career spans over four years with the European External Action Service, focusing on climate security and EU security policy, particularly in regions like Afghanistan and the Sahel. Kouvo has held various academic positions, including lecturing at Vrije Universiteit Brussel, Kent University, and Birkbeck University. She has also been a visiting fellow at several prestigious institutions, including the NATO Defense College and the Australian National University. Kouvo is an active contributor to the field of international law, publishing extensively on topics such as transitional justice, gender issues, and crisis management. Her work emphasizes the legal frameworks surrounding human rights within conflict contexts and the dynamics of EU interventions. She is a co-director of the Afghanistan Analysts Network and has played a key role in various policy roles related to international law and European security.
