Biography

Sarthak Misra joined the University of Twente in 2009 as a full professor in the Department of Biomechanical Engineering. He directs the Surgical Robotics Laboratory and is affiliated with the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Groningen and its Medical Center. He earned his doctoral degree from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, USA. Prior to his doctoral studies, he worked as a dynamics controls analyst for the International Space Station program at MacDonald Dettwiler Associates. Sarthak holds a Master of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering from McGill University in Montreal, Canada. He has received several significant awards, including grants from the European Research Council, the Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research, and the Link Foundation fellowship. His research interests span applied mechanics at macro and micro scales, focusing on the modeling and control of electro-mechanical systems with applications in medical robotics.
