Sascha Hardt is an Assistant Professor of Comparative Constitutional Law at Maastricht University. He defended his doctoral dissertation on parliamentary immunity in EU Member States at the European Parliament in 2013. As a member of the Maastricht Centre for European Law, he has focused his research on comparative constitutional law, particularly regarding the accountability of elected office-holders and their interaction with political processes and developments in constitutional law. Between 2019 and 2022, he coordinated the LEAP project under the Dutch-funded Orange Knowledge Programme, which aimed to modernize legal education in Indonesia. During this time, he remained actively involved in Indonesia as a regular guest lecturer at various universities and co-organizer of training courses for legal staff, including for the Indonesian Ministry of Education. He has also served as a sworn expert for the Indonesian Constitutional Court. Since 2025, he has been a member of a consortium tasked with conducting research on the free mandate of parliamentarians across European Union Member States, commissioned by the European Parliament.
