Sasha Anderson is a civic technology leader with a decade of experience working adjacent to government. In her career, Sasha has worked with local governments, nonprofits, news outlets, and members of Congress to use data to drive decision-making and increase public understanding. Her career began in local government where she used data to support economic development programs in the Puget Sound region. This passion led her to leave government in 2016 to launch USAFacts, the largest nonpartisan government data platform. Currently, she connects the dots between public data and AI, advising local governments on public sector AI applications and designing new professional education programs for policymakers. Sasha is active in the civic tech community, volunteering with Code for America, creating Seattle’s Civic User Testing Group, and serving on MetroLab's Task Force on Generative AI for Local Government. She has taught at the University of Washington's Information School since 2019.
