Biography

Sasha Hernandez is a clinical assistant professor in the Departments of Population Health and Obstetrics & Gynecology at NYU Grossman School of Medicine, specializing in family planning, gynecology, and obstetrics. She is dedicated to improving global access to equitable maternal healthcare through her work on the AMPATH Ghana project, which focuses on health system strengthening in Tamale, Ghana. Dr. Hernandez's professional journey includes treating a diverse patient population in New York City and internationally, specializing in various gynecologic conditions, routine well-woman visits, and pregnancy-related care. Her clinical practice emphasizes shared decision-making and evidence-based recommendations, benefiting patients across all life stages. Additionally, she has substantial experience in complex family planning, including contraceptive placements and pregnancy terminations. Deeply committed to research and capacity building, Dr. Hernandez leads global health projects addressing maternal health issues such as prenatal care access, postpartum depression treatment, and surgical training initiatives.
