Biography

Satwindar Singh Sadhal is a Professor in the Department of Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering at the University of Southern California. He earned his Doctoral Degree in Engineering Science from the California Institute of Technology in 1978, as well as a Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Bachelor’s Degree in Nuclear/Thermal Engineering Science from the University of Toronto in 1976 and 1975 respectively. His research focuses on ocular fluid dynamics and the transport phenomena associated with drug delivery, exploring permeability properties within the vitreous humor and retina. He employs numerical analytical modeling to study these fluid dynamics and transport phenomena in the eye. Over his career, Sadhal has received numerous awards including the Donald Q. Kern Award from the American Institute of Chemical Engineers and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers in 2024 and the 2019 ASME Heat Transfer Memorial Award (Science). He has held several prestigious positions, such as Co-Director of the Center Instruction Mathematics Engineering Students and has been recognized as a Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.
