Dr. Satyandra Gupta

Biography

Satyandra K. Gupta holds the Smith International Professorship in the Aerospace Mechanical Engineering Department and the Department of Computer Science at the University of Southern California's Viterbi School of Engineering. He is the founding director of the Center for Advanced Manufacturing at the university. Prior to his current role, he was a Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and the Institute for Systems Research at the University of Maryland, where he established the Maryland Robotics Center and the Advanced Manufacturing Laboratory. Gupta has significant experience in research and development, having worked as a Research Scientist at the Robotics Institute, Carnegie Mellon University. His research interests include developing human-centered automation solutions to enhance productivity, mitigate health risks, and foster innovation. He focuses on integrating physics-informed artificial intelligence and machine learning to create intelligent robotic systems that assist in manufacturing and other intricate tasks. Gupta is an accomplished author with over five hundred publications and holds thirty patents in his field. He has received numerous awards for his contributions to engineering and technology, reflecting his impact on the scientific community.
