Biography

Saul Faust FRCPCH PhD OBE is a Professor of Paediatric Immunology and Infectious Diseases at the University of Southampton and Director of the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Southampton Clinical Research Facility. He serves as the National co-clinical lead for the NIHR Vaccine Innovation Pathway and has been instrumental in managing various clinical research projects that span the paediatric and adult vaccine landscapes. Faust has been pivotal in establishing collaborative clinical trials aimed at enhancing outcomes for paediatric patients. He is also a co-Director of the National Immunisation Schedule Evaluation Consortium (NISEC2) and has served as the UK Chief Investigator for the national COV-BOOST trial, along with chairing the RECOVERY trial's paediatric working group. His leadership extends into the clinical research community, where he has chaired multiple UK NICE Guideline Committees, focusing on critical health issues such as childhood sepsis and Lyme disease. Faust has held various roles with NHS England and has worked as a national clinical lead on commissioning paediatric allergy, immunology, and infectious disease services.
