Biography

Saumya Jain is an Assistant Professor at the School of Biological Sciences at the Georgia Institute of Technology. Her research focuses on the regulation of gene expression, particularly in the context of neurodevelopment and gene expression in mice and fruit flies. She utilizes state-of-the-art techniques in single-cell genomics and spatial transcriptomics to investigate the formation of neuronal circuits. Her work aims to understand how various genes are expressed at specific times and locations during neural development, and how disruptions in these processes may lead to neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism, schizophrenia, and epilepsy.
