Professor Dr. Saurabh Chitnis

Biography

Saurabh Chitnis is an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Victoria. He specializes in inorganic chemistry, with a focus on the study of inorganic polymers and materials, as well as main group coordination complexes. His research involves understanding the fundamental structures that molecules adopt and how these geometries can unlock new reactivity in the development of new classes of materials. His work encompasses both theoretical and applied levels, where he develops safer catalysts, creates biodegradable plastics, and discovers new reactions that facilitate the construction of molecules used in pharmaceuticals. Chitnis is committed to a collaborative and interdisciplinary training atmosphere, guiding researchers to become independent thinkers and skilled scientists in both industry and academia.
