Biography

Savage Bear is an Assistant Professor in Indigenous Studies at McMaster University and serves as the Director of the McMaster Indigenous Research Institute (MIRI). She is an active member of the Montreal Lake Cree Nation in northern Saskatchewan. Bear is dedicated to advancing Indigenous education through her role as the National Director of the Walls to Bridges program, which aims to bring post-secondary education to Indigenous communities. Her work focuses on creating pathways for Indigenous students and fostering a deeper understanding of Indigenous perspectives within academic environments.
