Biography

Savvas Zannettou is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Technology, Policy and Management at Delft University of Technology. He is also an associated researcher at the Max Planck Institute for Informatics and a core member of the IDrama Lab. Prior to joining Delft University, he served as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Max Planck Institute for Informatics. He obtained his PhD from the Cyprus University of Technology in 2020. His research work focuses on the application of machine learning and data-driven quantitative analysis to understand emerging phenomena on the web, particularly the spread of false information and hateful rhetoric. Zannettou is interested in understanding the impact of algorithmic recommendations on web users, especially how algorithms can promote extreme content. Additionally, he aims to analyze content moderation systems to assess the effectiveness of moderation interventions on the web.
