Biography

Schuyler Hinman works in the area of computational fluid dynamics (CFD), focusing on the study and advancement of next-generation aerospace green technologies. He completed his PhD at the University of Calgary in 2017 and subsequently took a position as a senior engineer at Atlantis Research labs, working in the aerospace green technology divisions. In July 2021, he returned to the University of Calgary as an assistant professor to continue his work in academia. His research interests include high-speed gas dynamics, hypersonics, and the use of numerical mathematical tools to further understand fundamental fluid gas dynamic phenomena, such as shock wave interactions and flow separation. He also specializes in the design, simulation, and analysis of small-scale aircraft. Dr. Hinman collaborates with multiple industrial partners to enhance research and develop new technologies, informed by his past work as a CFD consultant. He is dedicated to training students in numerical modeling, compressible flow, gas dynamics, and aerodynamics, ensuring they become experts in their fields.
