Scott K. Cushing is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry at Caltech. He earned his B.S. from West Virginia University in 2011 and completed his Ph.D. in 2015. In 2018, he began a role as a Visiting Associate before becoming an Assistant Professor the same year. His research is concentrated on developing innovative, laser-based instrumentation for various applications within chemistry, physics, and biology. Currently, his group is working on a table-top transient x-ray technique and exploring high-flux entangled photon spectroscopy, as well as conducting few-femtosecond driven-lattice experiments. Cushing's collective work aims to advance the understanding and manipulation of optical properties in materials, contributing valuable insights into nonlinear quantum optics and multidimensional spectroscopy.
