Biography

Scott L. Delp is the James H. Clark Professor of Bioengineering and Mechanical Engineering at Stanford University, as well as the founding chairman of the Department of Bioengineering. He directs the Wu Tsai Human Performance Alliance, a university-wide research initiative aimed at discovering biological principles to optimize human performance and catalyze innovations in human health. Delp also leads the Restore Center and the Mobilize Center, both funded by the NIH, focusing on real-world rehabilitation outcomes and the analysis of Big Data and mobile health applications respectively. With over 325 research articles published in the field of biomechanics, he is recognized for developing transformative technologies that advance movement science and human health, including software tools like OpenSim. Prior to his tenure at Stanford, he was a faculty member at Northwestern University and the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago. Additionally, Delp has co-founded six health technology companies and is a member of the U.S. National Academy of Engineering.
