Biography

Scott Dunbar has extensive experience in engineering consulting, specifically focusing on mining exploration and geotechnical engineering. His work includes the design of tailings dams, water resources engineering, and hydroelectric engineering, with projects executed in Canada, Central and South America, Iran, Africa, and China. In January 1997, he joined the Department of Mining Engineering at the University of British Columbia, where he has taught courses in Economics, Waste Management, Design, Simulation, and Professional Engineering Practice. Dunbar is the founding director of the Integrated Engineering program at UBC, an undergraduate program that emphasizes the interdisciplinary nature of engineering practice and the importance of teamwork and independent learning.
