Biography

Scott Johnston is a Professor jointly appointed in the Faculty of Education and the Department of Philosophy at Memorial University of Newfoundland, Canada. He received his PhD from the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign in 2004. His recent publications include articles in respected journals such as the International Journal of Philosophy, Con-Textos Kantianos, Transactions of the Charles S. Peirce Society, Educational Theory, Educational Studies, and Philosophy of Education. He has authored five notable books, including 'Inquiry Education: John Dewey Quest Democracy' (2006), 'Regaining Consciousness: Self-Consciousness Self-Cultivation 1781-Present' (2008), 'Deweyan Inquiry: Educational Theory Practice' (2009), 'Kant’s Philosophy: Study for Educators' (2013), and 'John Dewey’s Logical Theory' (2014). Johnston also co-authored 'Democracy Intersection Religion Tradition: Reading John Dewey’s Understanding Democracy in Education' (2010) and has edited 'Teacher Education in a Transnational World' (2014). He serves as an Associate Editor for the journal Dewey Studies, contributing significantly to the discourse surrounding educational philosophy.
