Biography

Scott Martyn is a Professor at the Faculty of Human Kinetics at the University of Windsor and a Distinguished Professor at Beijing Sport University, China. His research primarily focuses on the connections between sport commerce, particularly the evolution of the International Olympic Committee affiliated insignia and sport marketing properties. He is the founding Director of the International Centre for Sport Leisure Studies and has served on the executive council of the International Centre for Olympic Studies, as well as the North American Society for Sport History and the International Society for Comparative Physical Education and Sport. Martyn currently holds a position on the Board of Directors of the Windsor/Essex County Sports Hall of Fame and the Windsor/Essex Sports Council. An accomplished teacher, graduate advisor, researcher, and administrator, he has an extensive list of edited volumes, book chapters, articles, and conference presentations to his name. He co-authored "Selling Five Rings: IOC Rise of Olympic Commercialism" and "Tarnished Rings: International Olympic Committee Salt Lake City Bid Scandal." His scholarly contributions include research in various prestigious journals and significant conference presentations.
