Biography

Scott McArt is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Entomology at Cornell University, specializing in pollinator health. He co-runs the Dyce Lab for Honey Bee Studies and the Cornell Chemical Ecology Core Facility. McArt earned his BA in Environmental Evolutionary Biology from Dartmouth College in 2001, an MS in Biological Sciences from the University of Alaska-Anchorage in 2006, and completed his PhD in Entomology at Cornell University in 2012. He worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst before joining Cornell's Entomology department as a Research Scientist in 2014 and later transitioned to a tenure-track Assistant Professor in 2017. His research focuses on ecotoxicology, disease ecology, community ecology, and chemical ecology, particularly in relation to the impact of pesticides and pathogens on honey bees and native wild pollinators. McArt emphasizes collaboration with stakeholders including beekeepers and farmers to address real-world challenges in pollinator conservation. In addition to his academic pursuits, he enjoys outdoor activities and nature photography.
