Scott Myers received his PhD in Linguistics in 1987 from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. He has taught at Temple University and the School of Oriental and African Studies before joining the University of Texas at Austin in 1990. His early research focused on formal models of phonology and morphology, particularly in relation to Bantu languages in Africa. He has also concentrated on experimental approaches to linguistic issues, including phonetics and phonology.
