Dr. Scott Petepiece

Biography

Scott Petepiece is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School and head of Shearman & Sterling’s New York Mergers & Acquisitions Group. He regularly represents U.S. multinational corporations and banks in financial transactions, including acquisitions, sales, joint ventures, and minority investments. Mr. Petepiece is actively involved in advising private equity sponsors on transactional matters, advocating for corporations, banks, and financial institutions in capital raising and disposition transactions. His recent experience includes representation of Fairfax Financial Holdings in matters such as the proposal to acquire Blackberry Limited, the acquisition of Hartville Inc., and transactions involving major financial entities like Merrill Lynch & Co. and Bank of America Corporation. He has also been involved in significant projects such as the $15 billion acquisition of Rohm and Haas Company by Dow Chemical Company and the pending acquisition of Capital Financial Corporation by Citigroup, Inc. Mr. Petepiece's expertise in mergers and acquisitions has placed him at the forefront of complex corporate negotiations and strategic financial arrangements.
