Biography

Scott Reeder is the John H. Juhl Professor and Chair of the Department of Radiology at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. He joined UW in 2005 after completing his radiology residency at Stanford University, followed by fellowships in abdominal and cardiovascular imaging. Dr. Reeder graduated from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, where he also earned his doctorate in biomedical engineering. Originally from Canada, he received his bachelor’s degree in applied science (engineering physics) from Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario. Dr. Reeder directs the UW Liver Imaging Research Program, which is focused on developing new imaging methods for assessing liver disease, including quantitative imaging biomarkers. His specific research interests include MRI methods for quantifying abdominal adiposity, liver fat, iron overload, and perfusion in liver tumors. A prolific researcher, he has authored over 350 manuscripts and holds 40 patents, receiving more than $22 million in extramural funding. He is actively involved in numerous national and international societies, including serving as a fellow and past president of the International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine and the Society of Advanced Body Imaging.
