Biography

Scott Reeder is the John H. Juhl Professor and Chair of Radiology at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. He directs the UW Liver Imaging Research Program, which is an active NIH-funded group dedicated to the research and technical development of new imaging methods. His research primarily focuses on quantitative imaging biomarkers for assessing liver disease. Specific interests include developing new MRI techniques for quantifying abdominal adiposity, liver fat, and liver iron overload, as well as assessing perfusion in liver tumors and the hemodynamics of portal hypertension using novel contrast agents for liver and biliary diseases. Given the high prevalence of obesity and diabetes-related metabolic diseases, his work is significantly relevant to the mission of the Wisconsin Diabetes Research Center.
