Biography

Scott Schumacher is a Professor of Law at the University of Washington School of Law, where he also serves as the Associate Dean of Experiential Education, Co-Director of the Global Business Law Institute, and Director of both the Global Business LL.M. and Taxation LL.M. programs. With a focus on Criminal Law Procedure, Prosecutorial Ethics, Taxation, and White Collar Crime, Professor Schumacher has extensive experience in civil and criminal tax controversy litigation. Prior to joining the faculty in 2001, he worked as an attorney at Chicoine & Hallett, P.S. in Seattle and served as a trial attorney with the U.S. Department of Justice Tax Division. He has been an attorney-advisor for Chief Judge Arthur L. Nims, III at the U.S. Tax Court and is admitted to the bars of Washington state and the U.S. Supreme Court. Professor Schumacher is a frequent speaker at academic conferences and has been involved in numerous publications related to taxation and law.
