Biography

Associate Professor Scott Stewart completed his PhD in Chemistry at the Research School of Chemistry (ANU) in 2002. He was awarded the Alexander von-Humboldt Fellowship, allowing him to work at the Universität Göttingen in Germany. In late 2005, he joined the faculty at the University of Western Australia, where he has made significant contributions in the field of synthetic organic chemistry. His research interests include the efficient synthesis of natural products, development of palladium and nickel-catalyzed cross-coupling reactions, and medicinal chemistry focused on antibacterial and anti-cancer agents. He has been recognized with various awards, including the UWA Student Guild's Student Choice Award and Lectureships at prestigious institutions such as Kyoto University and Jinan University. Stewart is actively involved in research projects related to nickel catalysis, natural product synthesis, and methodology development. He teaches courses in organic and introductory chemistry.
