Biography

Sean Bendall is an Associate Professor of Pathology at Stanford University, where he co-directs the Stanford Immunology Research Training Program. His research focuses on understanding the mechanisms regulating human developmental systems and the roles of protein-coding genes in disease pathology. His expertise lies in pluripotent stem cell biology, hematopoiesis, and immunology, leveraging novel high-content single-cell analysis techniques such as Mass Cytometry and Multiplexed Ion Beam Imaging. Sean aims to elucidate human-specific pathobiology by investigating cellular specification and remodeling at the single-cell level, ultimately contributing to the understanding of disease processes. He holds a PhD in Proteomic Analysis from the University of Western Ontario and has received numerous awards, including the NIH Director's New Innovator Award and the Dale F. Frey Breakthrough Scientist Award from the Damon Runyon Cancer Research Foundation. His contributions foster collaborations in human immunology and regenerative medicine while exploiting innovative computational methods for systems-level modeling of complex biological processes.
