Dr. Sean Crawford

Biography

Sean Crawford received his Bachelor of Arts from Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, British Columbia, a Master of Arts from Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and a Doctorate in Philosophy from the University of Oxford in England. He has held teaching and research positions at institutions including Lancaster University, Open University, University of Birmingham, University of Oxford, and Simon Fraser University. His research interests lie primarily in the philosophy of language and mind, as well as the history of analytic philosophy. He focuses on contemporary issues such as the nature of intentionality, mental content, singular reference, and propositional attitudes. Crawford engages with the works of notable philosophers such as Russell, Schlick, Wittgenstein, Carnap, and Quine, and he is actively developing solutions to puzzles related to de re belief and intentionality. He is also available for supervising graduate students in these fields of philosophy. Apart from his academic pursuits, he has contributed to media discussions on philosophy and has been involved in significant external collaborations, further enhancing his academic footprint.
