Biography

Sean Cregan is an Associate Professor in the Department of Physiology and Pharmacology at Western University. He holds a B.Sc. from Cornell University and a Ph.D. from the University of Ottawa in Cell Biology. His post-doctoral fellowship was at the Ottawa Health Research Institute. With a focus on neurodegeneration, his lab studies the molecular pathways that contribute to conditions like Parkinson's disease and stroke, aiming to identify potential therapeutic targets. His research interests include the role of BCL family proteins in regulating neuronal death following injuries, the integrated stress response in cell signaling, and neuron-glia interactions during neurodegeneration. He is involved in various collaborative efforts to advance the understanding of programmed cell death and its implications in neurodegenerative diseases.
