Biography

Sean Horton is a Professor in the Department of Kinesiology at the University of Windsor. He completed his Ph.D. at Queen’s University in 2007, following an M.A. in 2003 and a B.A. in 1992, both also from Queen’s. Since joining the faculty in January 2008, his research interests primarily focus on skill acquisition, expert performance, and physical activity engagement among different age groups, particularly older adults. His work addresses how stereotypes associated with aging can negatively influence seniors' decisions regarding physical activity involvement. Given the changing demographic trends with the baby boomer generation, his research emphasizes the importance of fostering physical activity in senior populations. Dr. Horton collaborates with professionals to design adaptive physical exercise programs for individuals with intellectual developmental disabilities, reflecting his commitment to inclusive physical activity for all.
