Dr. Sean Hoskins

Biography

Sean Hoskins is a choreographer, teacher, multimedia artist, and event producer originally from Bennington, VT. He began dancing through a richly experiential program at Middlebury College and has remained active in multiple facets of the dance field. He earned an MFA from the University of Michigan, specializing in choreography and dance for camera. Hoskins' choreography has been presented in New York City, Detroit, Boston, and San Francisco, as well as at the National College Dance Festival in Washington, D.C. He has performed with Leslie Seiters and known dance theatre companies such as Chavass Dance & Performance, as well as with choreographers like Paul Matteson, Peter Schmitz, Jessica Fogel, Terri Creach, Susan Sgorbati, and Melissa Beck. Hoskins is a lecturer in dance at Hillsdale College and has taught classes and workshops at the University of Michigan, Wayne State University, Oakland University, Middlebury College, Bates College, Berwick Academy, and several regional American College Dance Festivals. He directed the dance program at Blair Academy and currently works as a media consultant at the University of Michigan's School of Music, Theatre & Dance, where he instructs technology skills to students and faculty, supporting departmental production, archival, and publicity-related needs. Hoskins continues to choreograph and create dances for camera while investigating new technologies. He is dedicated to amplifying the local dance community and shaping outdoor movement showcases, including the recently-established Ann Arbor Dance Network.
