Dr. Sean Kennedy

Biography

Sean Kennedy is an Associate Professor at UNSW Australia in the School of Clinical Medicine. He serves as the Program Authority for UNSW Medicine and is the Education Lead at the UNSW Randwick Clinical Campus, where he is also the Head of Paediatric Nephrology at the Sydney Children's Hospital. Sean completed his PhD in 2010, focusing on the role of Tissue Factor Cytoplasmic Domain and Protease Activated Receptors in renal ischemia-perfusion injury. As an active clinician and researcher, he is deeply involved in education and has played a significant role in redesigning the UNSW Medicine curriculum. He currently holds membership in the Scientific Programme & Education Committee of the Australian & New Zealand Society of Nephrology (ANZSN) and has contributed to the Paediatric Working Group of the Australian & New Zealand Dialysis and Transplant Registry (ANZDATA) from 2011 to 2017. Sean is recognized for his expertise in managing renal manifestations of Tuberous Sclerosis Complex (TSC) and continues to lead research initiatives in this area at the Sydney Children's Hospital TSC Clinic. His clinical interests encompass a wide range of pediatric kidney diseases, from congenital structural anomalies to end-stage renal disease, dialysis, and acute kidney injury. He is also involved in research related to medical education, curricular design, and student wellbeing.
