Biography

Sean Qian is a Professor at Carnegie Mellon University's Heinz College of Information Systems and Public Policy and the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. He directs the Mobility Data Analytics Center at CMU. His research interests include large-scale dynamic network modeling, large-scale data analytics, multi-modal transportation systems, and the development of intelligent transportation systems (ITS), as well as understanding infrastructure system interdependency. His work is supported by several public agencies and private firms including the National Science Foundation (NSF), U.S. Department of Energy (U.S. DOE), and many others. Qian serves as an Associate Editor for major journals in the field and is an active member of the Network Modeling Committee of the Transportation Research Board. He has received prestigious awards including the NSF CAREER Award in 2018 and the Greenshields Prize from the Transportation Research Board in 2017.
