Biography

Dr. Quirin's laboratory develops minimally invasive methods to explore the causal role individual neurons play in the emergence of behavior. To this end, the lab's strength lies in developing techniques that manipulate light to detect and restoratively modulate brain activity on a single-neuron scale. The lab continues to innovate new tools to map functional relationships within the molecular and anatomical architecture of the brain. Utilizing these techniques, the lab aims to characterize ensembles of neurons that coordinate, encode, and communicate information as the brain senses behavior.
