Biography

Sean Sanders is a Professor in the Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering at the University of Alberta, with a PhD in Chemical Engineering. He served nine years at Syncrude Canada Ltd., where he held several technical leadership positions and conducted research on improved oil sands extraction processes. His notable contributions include the commercialization of Syncrude’s Low Energy Extraction process. His research interests include multiphase transport and innovative measurement techniques for flow conditions, with keywords such as Pipeline Hydrotransport, Scale-up Multiphase Processes, and Erosion-corrosion of Particle-laden Flows. Outside of academia, he enjoys spending time with his family and pets.
