Professor Dr. Sebastian Fossati

Biography

Sebastian Fossati is an Associate Professor in the Department of Economics at the University of Alberta. He holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Washington, awarded in 2010, and a Master’s degree from the same institution in 2006. He also obtained a Licenciado en Economia from Universidad de la Republica, Uruguay in 2003. His research focuses on Econometrics, particularly Time Series Forecasting, Prediction, and Causal Inference. Dr. Fossati's academic career is marked by his dedication to understanding and applying statistical methods to economic data. He teaches advanced courses in econometric methods and prediction in economics, employing diverse techniques including regression and machine learning methods. His work often emphasizes the importance of thorough data analysis, visualization, and the application of predictive analytics in economic modeling. Through his teaching and research, he contributes significantly to the field of Economics, especially in areas involving empirical and theoretical econometric analysis.
