Dr. Sebastian Rivera received his M.Sc. degree in Electronics Engineering from Universidad Tecnica Federico Santa Maria (UTFSM), Valparaiso, Chile, in 2011, and a Ph.D. degree (Hons.) in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Ryerson University, Toronto, Canada, in 2015. He was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Toronto and the Advanced Center of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (AC3E) at UTFSM from 2016 to 2017. From 2018 to 2023, he worked at the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Sciences at Universidad de los Andes, Chile. In 2023, he became an Assistant Professor at the Delft University of Technology in the Department of Electrical Sustainable Energy and joined the DC Systems, Energy Conversion Storage Group. His research interests include DC distribution systems, electric vehicle charging infrastructure, high-efficiency DC-DC conversion, and high-power modular converters. Dr. Rivera has received numerous awards, including the Proceedings IEEE Paper Award in 2025 and the IEEE Industrial Electronics Magazine Paper Award in 2022. He has also been recognized with the Academic Gold Medal from the Governor General of Canada in 2016 and several scholarships during his academic career.
