Sebastien Rochat is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Bristol, specializing in interface chemistry, materials science, and nanotechnology engineering. His research focuses on the development of new materials and their applications in energy conversion and storage, as well as in the discovery of stimuli-responsive and adaptive materials. He obtained his MSc and PhD in Chemistry from the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) in 2006 and 2010, respectively, where he worked on organometallic and supramolecular chemistry. After completing several post-doctoral fellowships, including at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), he transitioned into R&D at Procter & Gamble before returning to academia. At the University of Bath, he developed nanoporous composites for hydrogen storage. In May 2019, he joined the University of Bristol, where he is now focused on discovering new materials for applications related to renewable energy and environmental sustainability, such as organic polymers for catalyzing reactions and high-performance polymers for adhesives and fiber-reinforced plastics.
