Sébastien Roujol received his MSc and PhD in Computer Science from the University of Bordeaux, France. In 2011, he joined the Cardiac MR Center at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Harvard Medical School as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow. He was subsequently promoted to Instructor in Medicine at Harvard Medical School, Boston, USA. In 2015, Roujol became a Lecturer in MR-physics at the Division of Imaging Sciences within the Biomedical Engineering department at King’s College London (KCL), where he was later promoted to Senior Lecturer in 2019. His research contributions have been recognized with the Lawrie B. Morrison Research Award for exemplary contributions to research in Radiological Sciences at BIDMC/Harvard Medical School, and he was nominated as a finalist for the Early Career Award for basic translational research by the Society for Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance. His work has resulted in over 200 research outputs, including 55 peer-reviewed journal articles. Roujol’s research focuses on developing novel cardiac MR pulse sequences and imaging processing algorithms for the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular diseases and heart rhythm disorders, with current efforts directed towards quantitative myocardial tissue characterization, scar imaging, understanding arrhythmogenic substrate in cardiac arrhythmias, and developing real-time CMR-guidance approaches for interventional cardiac procedures, including catheterization and ablation of cardiac arrhythmias.
